STUDENT HANDBOOK The policies and procedures contained in this handbook are designed to establish a positive school climate ensuring a successful year at Daylight/Twilight. This information has been carefully prepared so that it will help you adjust to our school and become part of it. Your teachers are eager to help you achieve your academic and personal goals and to prepare you for a successful adult life. Remember, your success is directly related to your efforts. Eligibility Daylight/Twilight does accept students sixteen years old and up, but we encourage minimum age students to remain at the high school until all available services have been accessed. Consequently, most of our students are at least 17 years old. Since we do not refuse admittance to anyone over 16 due to age, we have a very healthy mix of age-different students. This mix has lent both a youthful exuberance and a steady maturity to each of our sessions. We have recruited staff willing and eager to accept our non-traditional approach to education that is interactive and project based. Many of our students fared poorly in traditional educational settings. While traditional education includes interactive learning in curriculum, we use it as the base of all curriculum plans. Selection of students is extremely liberal at the Daylight/Twilight High School. We don’t refuse admittance to any student based on prior history and continually remind students that we aren’t interested in where they have been, but we have a greater interest in where they are going. We have found that our strict attendance requirements, zero tolerance punctuality policy, an no-nonsense approach to discipline define both our program and the students who choose to remain with us on our terms.
