A Note From Principal Marc Maurice

Franklin Elementary School is a K-5 school located in the South Ward of Trenton, New Jersey. The school serves a multicultural population. All communications to parents are sent in both English and Spanish. We believe in promoting diversity by exposing our students to various cultural events, arts and crafts, foreign authors and the study of various historical figures.

Our institution is a personalized school where our teachers display high sensitivity and tolerance as we address students' academic and social needs. The guidance counselor teams up with local agencies to organize assemblies and small group sessions to address issues and topics pertinent to our grade levels.

Franklin School continues to focus on the academic development of all our students by implementing all programs and academic strategies prescribed by the District's office of Curriculum Instruction and Assessment. Using the test results of the previous year coupled with the initial assessment given in September, we prioritize our learning objectives based on the identified areas of academic strength and deficiency. At the end of each marking period, a grade level meeting is held specifically to make the necessary adjustment to the academic objectives for the following marking period. We are currently using technology based academic programs such as Study Island, Criterion, First in Math, and various educational websites in order to help our students prepare for the mandated standardized tests.

The collegial atmosphere among staff members and our students' insatiable desire to learn are the key ingredients that have made Franklin School a pleasant learning environment for all.
