Celebrating Women's History Month
Our Nation's First African American First Lady Michelle Obama took center stage at the weekly meeting for Girl Scouts Troop 70231 in celebration of Women's History Month. 24 girls in attendance received a recent copy of Princeton Magazine and discussed the historical relevancy to their lives as girls . As one student proudly stated " I can be the First Lady or even President , I just want to know how she does her hair so pretty." The discussion included such topics as what would you ask Ms. Obama, what makes her a leader , and how do you feel when you see her picture. One 3rd grade student excitedly said " I feel proud, strong, really smart like her ! " CCFA's Lead to Achieve promotes positive self esteem and empowerment for girls . Troop leader Yolanda L. Robinson stated this month they will continue to explore Ms.Obama 's influence as well as other leaders such as Shirley Chisholm and Madame C.J.Walker.
