Happy Dr. Seuss

Mr. G do you like Green Eggs and Ham?

"I Love Green Eggs and Ham"

March 5, 2009

Green Eggs and Ham were served this morning at Rivera to parents and students to celebrate Dr. Seuss's Birthday.  Staff members joined together to help serve parents and students heaping spoonfuls of green eggs and ham.  Rivera Middle School students lend a helping hand by reading Dr. Seuss to participants.  Thank you Mr. Patterson for your hard work and dedication making this a great event.

Lincoln Alumni Recognition Celebration February 27, 2009

Our 11th annual Lincoln Alumni Celebration was well attended and received.  Our oldest guest was a Lincoln Alumni who graduated in 1931 and is 94 years young.  She remembered most of her teachers and blew kisses to our 7th and 8th graders who gave her a standing applause during our last period lunch.  It was absolutely wonderful!  My extended thanks and appreciation to all who worked so hard to make this occasion on to remember, especially Mrs. M. Jones

Black History Program February 27, 2009

Ms. Briggs and Mr. Carmichael, along with their students, are to be congratulated on their wonderful program portraying past and current famous Black Americans who have impacted our lives in one form or another.  I must also thank Ms. Briggs for her excellent work with students who make our mourning announcements so interesting.  Thank You Ms. Briggs

November Election's

Voting at Rivera

Mrs. Monard’s class designed a roving voting booth for the entire school to vote during this 2008 election.

The students were allowed to vote using an election ballot with a picture of both candidates, designed by Mr. Fauntleroy. The roving voting booth was taken around the school to each class for the students as well as teachers to cast their votes. The students were extremely excited about voting and were very knowledgeable about the candidates. Many students knew that this election year would be one to make history. The students in Mrs. E. Jones' 7th grade class will tally the votes.
