Links for
Literacy
Ms. Donna
Teel, a representative from the New Jersey Department of State, visited Mrs.
Cohoon's first grade class to read as part of the statewide, early literacy
program Links for Literacy. The program is designed to challenge students
K-3 to develop strong reading skills and promote personal responsibility
through character-education driven literature. Ms. Teel read First Grade
Takes a Test, which focused on the Jan./Feb. pillar "justice." The students
really enjoyed her visit. |
Keys to
Peaceful Parenting
During the February PTO
session at Paul Robeson Elementary School, a KidsBridge Parent Workshop
entitled “Keys to Peaceful Parenting” was held. The presenter, Naomi Drew,
is a nationally recognized author and speaker. She involved the parents in
conversations around how to manage anger, reclaim calmness in the face of
stress, deal with conflicts peacefully, and bring about positive behavior in
the home. This parent workshop was very helpful to the parents and gave
them some valuable information to think about and discuss. We thank the
sponsors Educational Testing Service, Kidsbridge Children’s Museum, and
Mercer County Bar Association. |
