Synopsis of Grade Specific Content & Targets

Dunn SS Department Learning Targets:

All students will participate in inquiry based research projects that will provide the conceptual framework that allows students to place themselves at the center of their own education experience, make informed decisions, and practice productive citizenship.

Grade 6:

In Sixth Grade, students will survey the development of the United States beginning with its formation and ending with the Reconstruction Era. Topics including the Constitution and Bill of Rights will be thoroughly examined, as will the early republic, westward expansion and the Civil War.

Grade 7:

In Seventh Grade, students will survey the development of the ancient world beginning with the Paleolithic Era and ending with Ancient Greece. Topics include the ancient river valley civilizations, as well as the origins and beliefs of Judaism, Hinduism and Buddhism, will all be thoroughly examined.

Grade 8:

In Eighth Grade, students will continue their examination of ancient and medieval world history. Topics such as Rome, the origins and growth of Christianity and Islam, the Byzantines, the Dark Ages, the Crusades and the Mongols will be thoroughly discussed and analyzed.
