 Dear Parent/Guardian:

Here at Hedgepeth/Williams School, we teach our students to take responsibility for their academic and personal success by practicing respect for themselves, each other and the environment.  Our positive behavior system is called R.O.A.R. which stands for Respect Our school According to the Rules.  We ask that you support us in our efforts to improve our academic and social development by also respecting our school according to the rules.  For that purpose, please pay attention to the following important matters:

 ·        Attendance – All pupils must be in attendance for 165 or more school days in order to be considered to have successfully completed the instructional program requirements of the grade/course to which he/she is assigned.  The parent/guardian is responsible for notifying the school early in the day when a child will be absent and for informing the school of the reason for the absence.  Documentation of the nature and causes of these absences shall be the responsibility of the pupil and parent/guardian.

 ·        Tardiness – Pupils who are late to school or to class miss an essential portion of the instructional program and create disruptions to the academic process for themselves and for other pupils.  Students who have accumulated five (5) or more late arrivals to school/class will receive corrective consequences.

 ·        Early Dismissals – We do understand that from time to time a child may need to be dismissed early from school due to an emergency or medical reason.  Therefore, we are asking that you please notify us in writing the day before he/she will need to leave early. Students who leave class before the dismissal time (2:55 p.m.) significantly disrupt the learning environment and cause the student to miss vital instruction from the teacher.

o       Only the student’s legal parent/guardian or documented designee will be permitted to receive the student.

o       Under NO CIRCUMSTANCE will a child be released to an unknown person who is not listed on the student’s emergency medical form?

o       TELEPHONE approvals for a student’s release to an undocumented designee will not be permitted.

Parents/Guardians, we are asking for your support of our school-wide rules and our improvement efforts. We realize that we cannot be successful without your cooperation and without students who regularly attend school.  Thank you for Respecting Our school According to the Rules.
