King Middle School teachers were presented with information about Alternative Assessment at a staff meeting on Monday, October 17, 2005.  Dr. Amy Frantz, from NJEA, was the presenter.  Highlights of the workshop included creating rubrics using chocolate chip cookies and taking the World’s Easiest Quiz.  The staff left understanding that assessing students with more than a paper/pencil test is critical to the awareness of what the student has learned and their thought processes about their learning and planning for the student’s individual needs.

King Staff and Students celebrate Constitution Day,

Staff and students at King Middle School had the opportunity to experience first-hand, the Constitution of the United States of America. Just as the framers of the Constitution had to think about many issues in order to write the document, so did the students at King Middle School. Social studies teachers had students read and discuss the major issues found in the Constitution and their implications to their world today. Everyone learned that the Constitution, although more than 200 years old, is as important and vital now as it was when it was written.
