4 large eggs
1 c. milk
¼ c. freshly squeezed orange juice (if desired)
1 tbsp. orange zest (if desired)
2 tsp. granulated sugar
½ tsp. vanilla

8 tsp. butter
confectioners’ sugar (optional)
maple syrup (optional)
Preheat oven to 200º.
Crack the eggs into a large mixing bowl and whisk well.
Add the milk. Orange juice, orange zest, sugar, vanilla, and salt, and whisk well combined.
Dip each bread slice into egg mixture in bowl, turning it to coat both sides with the mixture.
Transfer the coated slices on a plate while you finishing coating the remaining slices.
Heat a small skillet over medium heat until hot.
Melt 1 teaspoon of the butter in the skillet, then add a slice of coated bread.
Cook until golden on one side and turn and cook until the second side is golden.
Transfer the French toast to a baking sheet and cover with foil.
Place in oven to keep warm while the other slice s are cooked.
Repeat with the remaining slices.
Sprinkle with confections’ sugar or maple syrup.
Yield: 4-8
