1 CUP BROWN SUGAR

1 EGG

2-1/4 CUPS FLOUR

2 TEASPOONS BAKING SODA

1 TEASPOON CINNAMON

1 TEASPOON GINGER

1/2 TEASPOON GROUND CLOVES

1/4 TEASPOON SALT

GRANULATED SUGAR

DIRECTIONS:

CREAM SHORTENING AND BROWN SUGAR.

MIX IN EGGS AND MOLASSES THOROUGHLY.

          BLEND IN REMAINING INGREDIENTS, EXCEPT GRANULATED SUGAR.

COVER.

CHILL AT LEAST 1 HOUR.

heat oven to 355°.

SHAPE DOUGH BY ROUNDED TEASPOONFULS INTO BALLS.

DIP TOPS IN GRANULATED SUGAR.

PLACE ON A LIGHTLY GREASED COOKIE SHEET.

BAKE 10-12 MINUTES OR JUST UNTIL SET.

IMMEDIATELY FROM COOKIE SHEET.
