Objective: Students will be able to identify triangles as acute right, or
obtuse.
Activity-Have a volunteer describe the steps needed to construct a right
triangle. Invite a second volunteer to demonstrate-on the board or overhead
projector-each step as it is described. Be sure the student follows directions
precisely. Once each step is completed, ask a third student to justify each
step.
Activity-Ask students to find out where constructions would be useful in the
community. For example, an architect could use constructions while designing a
new City Hall or city planner could use constructions when laying out a system
of roads. Have each student present an example and a sketch of how constructions
could be used.
