Howell Farm in Hopewell, NJ is a nice place to go to escape into the countryside. It is a living history farm complete with farm animals and machinery. It is run as life would have been at the turn of the last century. Kids can see fields being plowed with teams of horses (or oxen), hay being harvested, and butter being made in a churn. There are programs every Saturday where children can participate in activities. Wagon rides are held several times a year as well as a 4-H Fair and fiddling contest.
Nearby, the river towns of Lambertville and New Hope provide quaint shops and restaurants.
(Small fee for programs)
