Greetings to you as we enter the 2004-2005 school year. We begin
this year with the focus of continuing the process of improving
teaching and learning in the classroom. We believe that all
children can learn and be successful in school. We accept the
challenge of helping our children to become intrinsically motivated
so that they will leave school with a desire to extend their
learning beyond the classroom. When the children go home at the end
of the day, they will have that burning desire to continue building
upon what they learned in school. Students will become more
responsible for their learning and become excited about expanding
their minds on various levels.
With
your help, our goal is that all students will read at or above grade
level by third grade. Our comprehensive reading program, Success
For All, affords us the opportunity to utilize a variety of methods
to ensure that every student will accomplish this goal. Because of
the implementation of a new math program this 2004-2005 year by the
District, teachers will be involved in continuous professional
development to help teach our students math. In addition, more
focus will be centered on science, social studies, and language arts
during our instructional day
Parental support is needed as we focus on helping our students
receive a well rounded education. Elementary students rely
heavily on their parents/guardians for their successes.
Without your support, they will not be able to uphold their school
responsibilities. Please make sure they come to school on
time, complete their homework, go to bed early, and eat balanced
meals. These ingredients are key contributors to their success.
Everything we do at Paul Robeson Elementary School is conducted to
foster a better learning environment for our students. We are
looking forward to a productive and enriching school year. We
invite you to soar with us as we accept the responsibility of
educating our children.
