Trenton High Takes Top Honors

There were 63 teams competing in the FIRST robotics competition, the first weekend of March 2008, at the Sovereign Bank Arena. After one day of practice, and two full days of heated competition, the Trenton High robotics team emerged the victor, taking home the 1st place award. With competitors from GM, Dupont, Motorola, NASA, Northrop/Gruman, Lockheed Martin, NJIT, ARMY Research Labs, Sun Chemical, and many others, the team had their work cut out for them.

The robotics team is part of the Applied Engineering & Science Academy at Trenton Central High School, where a focus on science and mathematics play a major role in project based learning activities. The academy routinely applies principles of science and engineering in creating machines capable of performing at the highest levels. The academy has received many awards on the regional and national levels for research and development in the science and engineering fields, and has been cited in many local and national publications for their work in science education on the secondary level.
