The Medical Department
mission statement indicates the Trenton Public School District’s Medical
Department is committed to assist the school community in attaining and
maintaining optimum health for students, families, and staff by providing
quality school health services, programs, and resources.
The Department is
comprised of the Chief Medical Inspector, Supervisor of Nurses, thirty- two
Certified School Nurses, a School Nurse floater and a Secretary. The
Medical Department oversees the district’s public schools’ health offices
and is responsible for the nurses. The Medical Department is also
responsible for the nurses assigned to the Early Childhood Program.
In addition, the Medical
Department’s 504 Compliance Officer coordinates the 504/ ADA Program. Under
the auspice of the Medical Department public transportation for medical
fragile students is initiated. The department also initiates Medical Home
Instruction for students unable to attend school due to injuries or medical
conditions and coordinates with local agencies that provide academic
instruction at their facilities.
The Medical Department
works closely with local community agencies that provide resources and
services to the students and families of the Trenton Public Schools. The
Medical Department collaborates daily with other district departments to
assure that students receive a quality education while maintaining optimum
health. |
