 OFFICE OF SCHOOL SAFETY & SECURITY
 

The Office of School Safety and Security determines the security needs of the District and provides consultative and technical assistance to the Office of the Superintendent, the Board and Principals. 

The Office of School Safety and Security monitors and assists the building administrators in providing a comprehensive security/school safety program for the district and schools.  In addition, the office assists Principals in developing appropriate assignments and in conducting all staff development programs, as well as providing orientation for newly hired Security Officers. 

The Office of School Safety and Security ensures that schools have a well-developed safety and emergency plans and assist the building administrator in the development of those plans. 

The Office of School Safety and Security manages the Violence and Vandalism (EVVRS) reporting system with the Office of Support Services and the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services. 

The Office of School Safety and Security is responsible for implementing, supervising and evaluating appropriate programs, including instructions, and staff improvement courses or seminars. 

The Office of School Safety and Security is the district’s representative and liaison to all Public Safety Agencies and Organizations. 

The Office of School Safety and Security oversee the operation of the Truancy Reduction and Prevention Program including the operation of the Office of Support Services and Attendance. 


Active Shooter Exercise

The Trenton Public Schools, in conjunction with the Trenton Police Department, Office of Emergency Management, Fire Department, Capital Health Systems Mobile Intensive Care Unit and the Trenton Emergency Services participated in an “Active Shooter Exercise” at TCHS West.
The purpose of this exercise was to test the Trenton School Districts Emergency Crisis Management Plan and help the district to evaluate their readiness to respond to emergencies whether it be an Active Shooter or Natural Disaster, etc. It also will test the other various agencies plans and response to emergencies within the city.
