Students have a variety of opportunities for creative writing through
the Language Arts curriculum. Here are samples of work
completed in the 10th grade literature class.

You See by Nicole
You see me as bouncing balls from wall to wall, or as nice clear
water over all the chaos that falls.
See me as a tall but lonely tree in a forest that has grown wild
and free, please don't you dare judge me.
You see me as your favorite comfortable couch, you just hate to
be without or that soft hand that rises up your skirt, late night,
you can't be without.
You see me as that drunk that knows everything you and your know,
but some how don't know the way to go.
You see me as the heart that keeps you up to beat, but on the
inside you call me a freak.
You see, you see, what you see may or may not be me.

The Rain by Joshua
Sometimes I like to go out into the rain
To hide the pain on my face, I know it might sound strange.
The things that I've seen have been so surreal
I can't even talk about it & yo that's the deal
One of my best peeps died, ya'll can't believe how I feel
Right now my heart's feelin' like it's cold as steel
But not, it's time for me to move on
You was my homie & now your name will live on
I got an aunt who used to do all kinds of drugs
But now she found God & she got the love
I don't go to church much, but I know I should
To go & find the faith, I know I probably could
And maybe then, people could see my pain
I mean tryna hide it now, it's a pitiful thing
And I know people out there feel the same this way
They just like me, they like to go out in the rain
