Task 9
Narrative
LoTi Action Plan 2005-2006
Date Created: March 1, 2005
School Site: Stokes Elementary, Trenton, NJ
Survey Respondents: 24
School Liaison: Ms. Catherine Dismukes, Technology Facilitator
LoTi Survey Data:
LoTi: Level of Technology Implementation: The majority of the teachers are on the Non-Use Level—0 (38%). Computers are available in all classrooms but teachers feel that there is a lack of time to use electronic technology as part of instruction. Existing technology is predominately text-based, dittoes, chalkboard and overhead projector.
PCU: Personal Computer Use: The majority of teachers came in at a level 2 at Stokes. This indicates that teachers demonstrate a moderate level of using the computers for personal use. Teacher use the internet to research information which is used as enrichment exercises to reinforce the content being presented.
CIP: Current Instructional Practices: The majority of the came in at a level 4. Teachers feel comfortable using software and outside resources to aid in daily instruction. This supports a learner-based approach where student projects are generally student-directed and the teachers act as a facilitator.
School Data:
The school did not meet the state passing rate for Math or Language Arts
SFA is the whole school reform model
Focus on math as introduced by the new TERC Investigations which is being used District wide
Focus on writing projects based on Language Arts assessments of the NJ ASK
Goal Statements:
Move 70% of staff from Level 0 to 3 in their LoTi level
Move 70% of staff to Level 3 or higher in their PCU level
Move 70% of staff to Level 3 or higher on their CIP level
Strengths:
Plan follow-ups with activities from the previous school year.
Plan includes activities that build upon the skills acquired in the 2004-05 school year.
Plan includes goals and activities for all three components of LoTi
Weaknesses:
Time may not be given—during the last year time was not given to interact with the teachers in their classroom or to present professional development during component meetings or after school.
Opportunities:
Two classroom teachers invite me into their classroom a number of times during the year to give them support in researching information on the internet and to help their students create PowerPoint Presentations.
Other teachers are given support when requested on a one to one basis.
Limiting Conditions:
Again time may not be granted
Strategies: Work with administration to revise plan and try to come up with projects and times that will work with our staff.
